Proverbs 19 – Fools Rush In

2- “It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor be hasty and miss the way.”

It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, or desire without understanding.  We live in a culture where we desire answers and actions sometimes before we have understood the question.  We fail to look before we leap.  We make haste and waste.  Our spirit, desire, and zeal for good things are no substitute for careful analysis and understanding.  Too often one will rush to share their thoughts via social media, only to later realize it was not the right thing to say.  In some cases, they suffer major consequences.

This proverb reminds us to think before we act.  If we do not pause, take time to breathe, and survey our situation then we will miss the way.  May we take time to understand the questions we face before we rush to a response.
