Proverbs 16 – Commit to God

Proverbs 16 – Commit to the Lord

3 – Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

When I read Proverbs 16:3, with instructions to commit what I do to the Lord, my response was, “Ok, well I was planning to go grocery shopping today, so I’ll commit this journey to God and look forward to a successful trip.”  Now adays, many of us are praying for our trips to the grocery store.  We pray for a quick trip to pick up the items we need without bumping into the Covid. These are important prayers, we all want to remain healthy and safe.  I do think this example of praying to God for a successful grocery shopping trip speaks to an important truth.  We are to trust God with everything we do, we are to commit all our plans and works to God.  If we do this, then our plans will be a success.  Proverbs tell us that our plans and wisdom is limited, but God’s wisdom is perfect. To find true success we need to follow God.  One of my favorite Bible verses is 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”  In our meals, in our work, in our school, even in our grocery shopping trips, may we commit them to God so in everything we do God will be glorified.
