Music Ministry

It is written in Psalm 135:3, “Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to His name, for that is pleasant.”  This simple verse is the foundation of the music program at Zion Baptist Church.  Through music sung by multiple choirs incorporating a wide range of ages, we minister to each other and our congregation, praising God for His goodness and touching hearts using lyrics and melody of song.  Our purpose is to use music to provide an atmosphere of worship allowing God to speak and move. in Psalm 40:3 “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Sanctuary Choir
This choir sings every Sunday during our 10:30 morning worship service using piano and organ accompaniment.  Everyone is welcomed to participate.  We sing a variety of styles of music, from contemporary to southern gospel and we love adding new members to our choir family.  In addition to our weekly performances, we conduct a Christmas and Easter cantata and are a part of our Hanging of the Green ceremony and Community Thanksgiving service.  Our weekly scheduled practice is Wednesday evening from 6:30 -7:30.

Children’s Choir
This choir is for children ages 3 – 4th grade and meets on Wednesday evening from 5:40 – 6:00 from September through April.  They sing during the Sunday morning service once a month and as part of special performances throughout the year.  Through choir they have the opportunity to learn many of the Bible stories and begin to ask questions and understand the love and grace of Jesus.
